Speakers:

Kishan Seger, Senior Structural Engineer, Beca

Kishan is a chartered structural engineer in Beca’s Tauranga team. He is an established leader within the Beca Building’s team for undertaking carbon assessments and providing carbon advice to clients. Kishan recently won the prestigious Engineering New Zealand: Te Ao Rangahau Young Engineer of the year award where the judges cited how Kishan exemplifies his ethical obligations to safeguard the public. As well his ability to balance this with a strong passion for innovation and excellence in sustainability.

Richard Forbes, Senior Mechanical Engineer, Beca

Richard is a Chartered Engineer originally from the UK. He has a strong background in mechanical engineering and has led the design on many large projects in the UK. He has a passion for low energy design and a strong interest in decarbonisation work. He has had recent involvement in delivering feasibility studies focused on fuel switching solutions and decarbonization pathways, and is involved in several Green Star projects and NABERS assessments across New Zealand.

Ben Cannon, Sustainability Manager, LT McGuinness Ltd

Ben Cannon has worked in construction in various roles. He first started as a Labourer, progressed to obtaining a Certificate in Carpentry, and then worked as an in-house Quantity Surveyor. Ben has always been very interested in sustainability, which led him to complete a Graduate Diploma in Business and Sustainability. He has been with LT McGuinness since January 2022, and has hit the ground running with the implementation of LT’s Low Carbon Mission. He has also been actively involved in the ECI phases of projects and supporting LTM site teams to achieve sustainability outcomes, including a Living Buildings Challenge project and 13 Green Star jobs.
