    Event description

Which comes first for you: the poem on the page, or on the stage? How can our poetry flow back and forth between pen and performance? How can the experience of performance enhance the words on the page?

This workshop explores your individual relationship with performance and poetry. Through exercises and exploration you will:

    • discover your own untapped resources for more expressive, dynamic and embodied performance
    • use the energy and emotion of the moment to make each performance unique and true to yourself
    • explore how your experience of performance can enrich and enliven the drafting and editing process

    Your Facilitator:
Es Foong writes poetry and performs under their stage name Waffle Irongirl. Their poems have appeared in Australian Poetry Journal, Rabbit Poetry, Kalliope X and the Best of Australian Poems 2022 anthology. They have performed on poetry stages including La Mama Poetica, Queensland Poetry Festival 2022 and Poetic City Canberra 2023. Their collection “Clot and Marrow” debuted with Recent Work Press in 2023. They live online at waffleirongirl.com.

Proudly part of Sonic Poetry Festival 2024 - Poetry that sounds like all of us!
