Event description

A space for participants to build upon their innate ability to express vocally through somatic awareness, guided improvisation and co-created harmony.

In this 2 hour workshop we will explore:

  • aligning the voice with movement and felt sensing
  • anchors that allow us to harmonise intuitively
  • guided vocal improvisation accessible to all voices
  • relationship to self and others in the context of group singing

This workshop is for:

  • those craving an outlet for creative expression
  • anyone curious about self-regulation and co-regulation through sound
  • arts therapists, music therapists and other wellbeing facilitators
  • singers seeking more depth to their practice
  • total beginners

Our facilitator: Jolene Moran

Jolene has over 20 years of experience as a performing jazz vocalist, she is the musical director of Vox Chops and a registered creative arts therapist. Offering experiences that create pathways to vocal expression and connection is the common thread that weaves throughout her work.

Over the course of Jolene's journey as a jazz singer she has grappled with the conflicting desire to improvise against an uncomfortable resistance to scat singing.  Informed by polyvagal theory and therapeutic arts processes, Embodied Voice exercises are the tools that have emerged through Jolene's creative practice as she explored ways to playfully vocalise in ways that could be attuned to both to emotional experiencing and harmonic accompaniment.

Please note that this venue is only accessible by staircase.
