Description

Embrace Your Inner Storyteller!

Are you passionate about stories and want to master the art of telling them? Join our Oral Storytelling Course with experienced educator, U.K.-trained storyteller, President of the Australian Fairy Tale Society and host of The Heart of Storytelling podcast, Alyssa Curtayne.

Transform your tales into mesmerising performances! Storytelling is not reading or memorisation, but a deep connection within the body to the story, the audience, and the self. Using folk and fairy tales we will dive deep into story craft and build our repertoire of skills and stories so you can tell your tales with confidence and style.

“I thought the sessions were fun, interesting, sometimes challenging, and varied each week. I think overall my appreciation of the power of storytelling has increased and my confidence has also increased. Thanks Alyssa” - MT

With thanks to a subsidy from the City of South Perth, this two-day workshop will be offered at a discounted rate.

You will:

🔹 Learn the Craft: Master the art of story preparation and delivery.

🔹 Engage Audiences: Discover the secrets of what makes a story engaging.

🔹 Build Confidence: Participate in fun activities designed to strengthen your public speaking skills and boost your confidence.

Whether you're a budding storyteller or just want to find your voice, this workshop is your first step toward engaging in this amazing tradition. Get ready to weave some magic!

FAQs

  • Times?

It will start at 9.30am promptly on both days. We will be finished by 4.30pm. Accommodation is not provided.

  • What do I do about food?

You are invited to bring your own, however there is a Dome nearby.

  • I've never done anything like this before, what's it about?

Humans have told stories long before the invention of writing. In this workshop you will be encouraged to develop your own style and voice when speaking or telling in public. Stories will be provided for you - stories tend to choose their tellers!

  • Do I have to perform at the end of the weekend?

There will be an optional opportunity for participants to share their learnings on the Sunday afternoon, but it is not compulsory. It is hoped you will feel supported enough to share if you wish to.
