Emergency Management Victoria - Regional Communication Workshop for Hume & Loddon Mallee
Working together to keep our communities, and each other, safe
We invite you to join a practical two-day workshop exploring how we work together before, during, and after emergencies.
Over two days, participants will build a shared understanding of emergency management roles, responsibilities, and communication pathways, and how these come together to support communities through emergencies.
The workshop is an opportunity for council emergency communications teams, Regional Joint Public Information Committee (RJPIC) representatives, and community leaders, to strengthen existing relationships and build new ones.
Through practical scenarios and collaborative activities, participants will:
explore how information is coordinated and shared during emergencies
strengthen communication pathways
build stronger regional networks.
The workshop will also examine how we can work together to ensure timely, accessible, and reliable information reaches communities during the higher risk weather season.
Dates: 12–13 October 2026
Location: Victorian Emergency Management Institute (VEMI)
Meals and accommodation: Provided for participants
The aim is simple: when an emergency occurs, the people who need to work together already know one another, understand their roles, and know how to connect communities with the information they need.
