Something a little special is coming to Flinders!

Saturday 2 May

Innovative Tasmanian artist Emily Sanzaro will take the stage at the Flinders Arts & Entertainment Centre for a one-night-only performance - all in support of the Patriarchs Wildlife Sanctuary.

If you think you know what a harp sounds like, think again.

Emily is not your traditional harpist. Using a loopstation, she layers harp, vocals, and percussion to create a rich, multi-dimensional sound that feels more like a full band than a solo performer. It is immersive, experimental and completely captivating.

Her work moves across genres with ease. From original contemporary compositions featured in her debut album AWAKEN and MONA residencies, through to haunting, cinematic soundscapes shaped by her work as a therapeutic harpist.

Emily is also known for her reimagined covers, breathing new life into iconic 80s and 90s tracks, alongside unexpected interpretations of artists like Radiohead and even Metallica. Familiar songs take on an entirely different mood through the harp.

Based in Launceston, Emily has performed extensively across Tasmania and beyond, including MONA FOMA, Dark Mofo and TEDxHobart, building a reputation for redefining what the harp can be.

But what makes this visit feel especially aligned with our island is the intention behind it.

Emily is also a therapeutic harpist, playing at the bedside of palliative patients, bringing comfort and connection through music. There is a depth and care in her work that you can feel.

This special performance will raise funds for the Patriarchs Wildlife Sanctuary, a place that does so much for our local environment and wildlife.

And she is not stopping there.

Sunday 3rd May

Emily will host a creative workshop, Finding the Freedom in Creativity - supported by Furneaux Community Arts. Drawing on her work as an Occupational Therapist, artist and performer, this session explores why we create and what can hold us back.

It is open to anyone, not just musicians or artists. Whether it is music, writing, visual art or even how you approach your work, the session invites people to explore creativity without pressure or expectation.

Together, you will unpack things like imposter syndrome, creative mindset, risk and vulnerability, and walk away with practical ways to reconnect with your own creative voice.

Come along, bring a friend, and be part of something a little different.

You might just hear the harp in a whole new way.
