    Event description

“To me, it sounds like conversations I can't say, but can sing. A meaningful and relatable poem with a melody, sung for the strong of heart, with a fire in the belly.”

Seasoned songwriter and performer Emma Bosworth has been creating music since she realised she could, at14 years old, when she learnt to play guitar and discovered that she could sing the stories in her head. Since then she’s made pop-punk with The Flying Chimnees, catchy rock with J-Pan Fan, released her own debut album ‘Coming Up For Air’ (2014), written and performed songs with the families of Australian servicemen for the respected national songwriting project The Soldier’s Wife and founded Wild Mountains Songs, an inspired songwriting retreat for mid-career musicians.

Her music has won not only the hearts of listeners, but has also been nominated for the Best Blues/Roots Track of the Year at the Queensland Music Awards (2015, 2017, 2020), finalist in the Tamworth SongwritersAssociation Alternative Blues Song of the Year (2017), and nominated for Bob Brown Protest Song of the Year at the Australian Roots Music Awards, among other accolades. It has been featured on the television seriesHarrow and Slide, feature film Predestination, and played regularly on ABC Country and ABC Radio.

Now, alongside her band The Meeting Seasons (Rohin Jones, Reuben Schafer, Tony McCall), Emma has created her most authentic work yet. With storytelling that sways between social commentary and escapism, and music that at once seems both simple and sophisticated, above it all is her joy and love of music.

“To be able to continue to write and make music with my friends after all this time, can feel like the only way Ican make sense of the world. It brings on revelations in my brain, gets me excited to wake up and keepthinking and to be inspired.”

"Oh Man' includes gorgeous explosions of sound that allow the vocals to take centre stage, radiating heavy TameImpala and Go-Betweens feels." - Good Intent

It’s got a chorus that stands out big time, seriously good stuff.” – Declan Byrne, Triple J
