Emma Platais, Fruta Brutal & Fuya Fuya
Event description
Join Manos Sagrados in welcoming Emma Platais with Fruta Brutal and Fuya Fuya to the stage, for an evening of Latin indie pop!
Emma Platais grew up in the U.S., Central America and Brazil inspiring her to write poems and songs in a mix of Spanish, English and Portuguese. The classics of bossa nova and American folk have profoundly influenced her writing style, and her latest EP, “Profundezas” pays tribute to her ancestral lineage, the energies that guide us back home and the creative journey of discovering one's voice.
In 2022, Platais made the leap to Mexico City, where she found herself immersed in a scene that led her to collaborate with the likes of Loli Molina, Hernan Hecht, David Aguilar, Ulises Hadjis and Patrick Watson, and now finds herself settling in between the palm trees of L.A., where she’s continuing to find harmony in places she hadn’t thought to look before. In 2025 she will be releasing a new EP as well as singles in collaboration with Luz Elena (from Y La Bamba), Rulo and Pedro Fonte.
Fruta Brutal: Born in Ecuador and raised in the United States, Martín Better Longo channels the tension and beauty of a mixed cultural identity through his project, Fruta Brutal. Weaving together psych rock, indie-pop, and Latin rhythms, his music serves as a profound exploration that, with luck, can reach people across borders. From the bustling music scenes of Denver and New Orleans to Buenos Aires, São Paulo and other South American cities, Martín experimented with various musical styles to eventually arrive at Fruta Brutal's eclectic sound—a dynamic force within Rock Alternativo and Indie Pop. Inspired by legends like Caetano Veloso and Fito Paez, as well as more contemporaries like Måneskin, Tame Impala, and St. Vincent, Fruta Brutal delivers a bold and versatile repertoire. Playing live with Susan Lucía and Ben Weirich, the trio offers an energy packed, genre-bending performance.
Fuya Fuya, a versatile Ecuadorian artist born in the 90s, is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer. Her music spans genres from Hip-Hop/R&B to Latin American Folk and experimental music. Inspired by themes of self-discovery and female empowerment, her music reflects these pursuits in explicit ways in her lyrics and more subtle ways in her instrumental works. Her debut EP, Sueño Andino (Andean Dream), a contemporary take on the music of Ecuador, was released through the También label in March of 2025 as a precursor to her LP, which will be released later this year.
