Emma Pask and Bill Risby will transport you through an afternoon of storytelling woven into timeless swinging jazz standards, upbeat Latin rhythms, gorgeous ballads, and, of course, some raucous blues. This promises to be an up-close and personal experience not to be missed and the perfect start to Gunnedah's 2024 Concert Series

Emma’s effortless honest stage presence combined with her powerful vocal ability, leaves audiences spellbound and inspired whenever she takes to the stage. She has headlined the Havana Jazz Festival in Cuba, toured her band throughout Europe, Asia and Australia. Emma has sung in London at The Queen Elizabeth Hall with the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Sydney Opera House with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban had Emma sing their Bridal waltz. She has performed in China with The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Auckland with the NZ Philharmonic, and with the WA Symphony Orchestra in Perth. She has received rave reviews for her performances in Uruguay, South America, and is a regular at the prestigious Ascona Jazz Festival in Switzerland. 

Bill Risby started piano at a very early age, and after progressing through classical grades, studied Jazz at the NSW Conservatorium of Music. He is now highly regarded by many as one of the most accomplished pianists in jazz, improvised and popular music. He has toured the world playing his own music, has 12 albums to his name, and is on the Ponca Jazz recording label (Norway), and Universal Music.

He has played with many visiting jazz artists such as Bob Mintzer, Maria Schneider, Kitty Margolis, Wayne Bargeron, Bobby Shew, and more recently Lisa Simone (daughter of Nina Simone). He piano playing was featured in the current film “Peter Rabbit”, and also in the films, “Australia”, “The Great Gatsby”, The new Biographical movie on Barry Otto’s life “Otto on Otto”, David Wenham’s film “Ellipsis”, “A Stitch In Time”, as well as being the sound of Peter Allen’s piano in the Australian Tele-movie “Not The Boy Next Door.”
