Emotional Intelligence: The Quiet Skill Behind the Work
Event description
Session Overview
Interpreting and communication work require more than technical competence—they demand emotional clarity, presence, and resilience. Every interaction, especially in high-stakes or emotionally sensitive settings, calls on practitioners to tune in, stay grounded, and respond with both empathy and professionalism.
This reflective session offers a space to explore emotional intelligence as a practical, day-to-day skill. Together, we’ll look at how to stay open without becoming overwhelmed, how to remain centred in the face of strong emotions, and how to offer genuine presence without edging toward burnout. Through discussion and active participation, we’ll unpack the emotional dynamics of our work and reflect on what helps us sustain ourselves in the long term.
Ideal for interpreters and communication professionals who want to build their emotional resilience, develop greater self-awareness, and cultivate a deeper, more sustainable practice.
