Event description

DC students, parents and family members, school leaders and community members are invited to join us at our regular teacher meeting to help EmpowerEd's teacher leaders refine their advocacy plans for DC education this year. We will be working in six groups and you can join any of them to help them think through the issues they are considering tackling this year, discuss potential advocacy asks and more.  


We will have dinner available and child care!  RSVP IS REQUIRED!

GROUPS:

Democracy: Reforming mayoral control of schools and school transparency

Equity & Representation: Culturally responsive education and recruiting, supporting and retaining educators of color

Opportunity: Promoting well-rounded education and reforming standardized testing

Community: Reforming school ratings and promoting neighborhood and community schools

Liberation: Envisioning safe, police-free schools and Ending child and family poverty

Elevating Teaching: Reforming teacher evaluation, permaneant subs for all schools, student loan relief for education, literacy and pedagogy
