Introducing Wilmé Steenekamp, a distinguished speaker with over 40 years of experience and a multifaceted background as a Medical Doctor, Clinical Psychologist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Attachment Informed EMDR and Internal Family Systems EMDR therapist.

Wilmé is passionate about understanding human behaviour and applying her knowledge to empower people – as individuals as well as in relation to others. Known for a keen ability to observe attentively, actively listen, and learn from clients, Wilmé employs a unique blend of expertise, skills, and intuition to facilitate personal and relational growth. Her primary focus is on helping clients break free from confusing and unhelpful patterns, fostering healing from past traumas, acquiring new skills, and re-establishing meaningful connections.

As a registered Clinical Psychologist with the NZ Psychology Board and a member of the NZ Psychological Society as well as EMDR NZ, Wilmé holds additional qualifications and focusses on Somatic Experiencing (Trauma therapy), Attachment informed and Internal Family Systems EMDR therapy, Developmental Model Couple’s therapy and Interpersonal Neurobiology therapy, and is still a registered Medical Practitioner in South Africa.

She has a private practice based in Hamilton, presents talks and has added presenting group programmes to couples and Healthcare Practitioners to her repertoire under the umbrella of Sweet as Psychology

On a personal note, she highly values her relationships with her family and friends and loves being close to nature and being creative.
