Join us for a seminar presented by Catriona Collins, Speech Pathologist & Director of the Communication Clinic, that will focus on respecting how your child communicates and supporting you to be a communication ally for your child/young person. Catriona would like this session to be a chance to talk together, learn from each other and for everyone to walk away with some helpful strategies and information.

As a guide we will plan to talk about:

New terminology around Neurodiversity and brainstorm how these ideas fit within our kids' lives.
Masking -what is it? We don't all do it either.
Friends -what are they? Differences in the way we communicate with friends vs family.
Ideas for supporting children with their communication
How do we support our child's communication -tools and ideas sharing time. If you have something that works well for you (a visual, sensory tool, phrase, game you use etc.) please feel free to bring it along to share with the group during this session.

Morning tea will be provided.

About the presenter:

Catriona (Cat) Collins is a Speech Pathologist who has over 23 years experience working within the disability sector with people who have a range of communication and eating and drinking support needs, including complex communication needs. She has a holistic approach to therapy and loves sharing what she has learned with others and is continually learning herself.

Cat is the Director of The Communication Clinic Speech Pathology Service in East Maitland, managing a passionate team of Speechies and therapy assistants.

Catriona has a child with a disability who has taught her so many lessons in life and work.
