Empowering Voices

On the 23rd of October, Hannah invites you to an evening of music, ideas and hopes. Expect outstanding performances by local classical singers and musicians. featuring well known classical, musical theatre and contemporary favourites and a work by a local composer.

Hannah Ashford-Beck is a classically trained singer based in Õtautahi, Christchurch. After working for New Zealand Opera and Wellington Opera, singing in the New Zealand Youth Choir, and performing on numerous New Zealand stages, this young singer is now studying at the University of Canterbury.

Here she is discovering what support and resources can be provided to empower classical singers working in New Zealand. Her project aims to create a website that will provide a collection of resources and tools to inform singers of their rights and responsibilities, support avenues and developmental opportunities.
