Description
Avalokiteshvara [Chenrezig in Tibetan ] is the embodiment of all the buddhas’ compassion and love. The literal translation of his name means “The One Who Beholds With Loving Eyes”. Chenrezig’ s brilliant white body represents the luminosity of primordial wisdom, the spark of enlightenment.
H.H. The 17th Karmapa explained that the practice of Chenrezig consists of closing the gap between the practitioner and the practice, so there is no difference between the person meditating and the love and compassion they are cultivating. In the end, this distance completely disappears so that the practitioner becomes the very nature of love and compassion.
The mantra of Chenrezig "Om Mani Padme Hum" is particularly effective because as H.H. The 14th Dalai Lama states - the six syllables mean that in dependence on the practice of a path which is an indivisible union of method and wisdom, you can transform your impure body, speech, and mind into the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha.
As Lama Zopa explains - Reciting OM MANI PADME HUM is one of the most powerful means of developing compassion and bodhichitta. It purifies our negative karmas, or obstacles, and collects extensive merit that enables us to receive the blessings of Compassion Buddha, and through these blessings we then receive realizations.
We are extremely fortunate that Kyabje Bokar Khenchen Lodoe Thonyor Rinpoche will be conferring this Empowerment of Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara on July 15 to the Australian Buddhist community. - Parking and Entry to Venue
Free parking is available for members and their guests at the venue. Entry is via Brett Street or Tarro Avenue, Revesby.
Entry to the venue will require a valid NSW photo ID, for international guests, please present your passport at the entrance for admission into the venue.
- What NOT to bring into the event?
To comply with the venue's guidelines and requirements, we ask participants to NOT bring any food or drink inside the venue.
Refreshments and meals are readily available on site at the numerous dinning outlets.
- Are there any Buddhist etiquettes for visitors ?
Please dress modestly and avoid short skirt or low top.
Refrain from touching any ordained monastics, especially monks from the Theravada tradition.
Maintain the serenity within the Main Shrine/Altar Area by speaking softly.
Do not step over any religious texts/books left on floor cushions.
- Can I take photographs?
Buddha images are sacred objects, so do not pose in front of them . Always ask for permission when taking photograph.
- Health and Safety
For the safety of all attendees, we kindly request that you refrain from attending any workshops or programs if you are experiencing any illness, respiratory issues, or symptoms related to COVID-19 (such as fever, coughing, sore throat, fatigue, or shortness of breath).
To protect vulnerable attendees, please consider wearing a mask when you are participating a program. Masks will given out at the venue.

KDBM is committed to maintaining a respectful and positive environment for all attendees. Parents /Guardians are responsible for their accompany children under the age of 12 and need to supervision their children at the venue.
Please be aware that any inappropriate or offensive behaviour by attendees will not be tolerated. In such cases, attendees may be asked to leave the venue.
