An event for women, to empower women!

Tearfund is proud to present an event for women, to empower women that you won’t want to miss! Gather your girlfriends for a great night of powerful short talks from three unique female voices, giveaways, delicious treats, grazing tables and a Q&A to follow.

Tickets are just $10 each, with all proceeds going to support Tearfund’s work with vulnerable mums and their babies in Indonesia.

THURSDAY, 24 JUNE: 7pm – doors open | 7.30pm start

In one ‘hour of power’, three unique, New Zealand voices will share ways in which every woman can grow and flourish.

Petra Bagust has spent 20 years of her life on our screens. She has fronted a wide range of successful series including “Hot Property”, “What's Really in Our Food" and TVNZ's Breakfast programme. She is also a mum to three teenagers and wife to freelance cameraman Hamish Wilson. She went back to university to learn Te Reo Maori and is now studying Chaplaincy at Otago University. Petra Bagust has a huge heart for the community and is currently the Anti-Human Trafficking Ambassador for Tearfund New Zealand.
Jo Robertson has a Master of Science in Sex Therapy and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling. She has had 15 years’ experience working in sexual health, through education and counselling. Jo has a private therapeutic practice specialising in problematic sexual behaviours, sexual dysfunction and relationship breakdown due to betrayal. She is also the Research and Training Lead for The Light Project, a charitable trust researching the messaging in porn, the influence on sexual culture and how to have positive conversations about it. She also recently did a TEDx talk in Christchurch on “why we need to talk about porn”.
Pip Smyth is a pastor at The Upper Room Church and mum to four boys. She is also Key Accounts Management Support at a shipping company. Pip’s youngest son surprised their family with an extra chromosome. Since his birth she has focused on encouraging new mums who have a baby with down syndrome. When she’s not tracking down containers or racing after her boys she can be found blogging in a snug café with a large coffee.

Seats are limited, so get your tickets today and bring your friend to EMPOWher!

Tearfund's Mums & Bubs Project

Tearfund’s Mums & Bubs project is helping to create a circle of protection around vulnerable mums and their babies in Indonesia. The first year of life is the most precious, but Mums and babies living in poverty often don’t have the care and support they need to flourish and grow well. We’re striving to change that.  Our friendly Team will be available at the event to help you learn more about how you could make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable mums and their babies in Indonesia. From their first breath to their first birthday,  you could be part of a community of Kiwi women that helps to provide the crucial care babies needs during their first precious year of life. Learn more about this project here.
