Empty Geometry with Joshua Kopel | Seattle Metals Guild Lecture Series
Event description
The Seattle Metals Guild is honored to host members and their friends in a series of monthly presentations from experts in our field.
Join us for an in-person presentation plus hands-on show & tell of work with machinist and guild member Joshua Kopel.
For the past several years, Josh has invested heavily in honing his ability to make small (sometimes very small) folded seam boxes. Josh will share some of what he has learned about his process, and some examples of what he has been able to create so far.
Joshua Kopel was university trained as a metalsmith but has spent the majority of his career in other industries, and has only recently returned to creative endeavors. He maintains an entirely unprofessional practice from his studio in West Seattle where he experiments with both traditional and nontraditional methods of small scale fabrication. Being endlessly fascinated by the variation possible in even simple geometric forms, he mostly constructs small boxes and other more difficult-to-classify objects.
Seattle-area location to be announced via email as the event nears.
We will convene for drinks and mingling at 6:30, with the lecture to follow at 7pm.
