International Women's Day 2020 - Enabling gender equality: Diverse perspectives
Event description
An equal world is an enabled world. Individually, we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world. All of us being #EachforEqual is the 2020 theme of International Women's Day.
This interactive panel event creates space to explore diverse perspectives on gender equality. It brings together a diverse panel of change makers and people of influence in their own spheres to share their perspectives on gender equality - what it means, why it matters, how this can be enabled and what we might also do to scale this.
We are thrilled to have the following people on our panel:
Karen Farrell, Senior public sector leader and founding member of Southern Government Women's Network
Pat Barwick, former Black Sticks women’s captain and coach
Zahra Hussaini, Community leader involved with Uniting Canterbury Women, Canterbury Resilience Foundation and Who is Hussain? Christchurch
Te Ao Marama (Jodi) Apiata, passionate connector of dots spanning Matauranga Maori, Whanau Maori, Rangatahi, Community
Fiona Deehan (Cara Consulting) and Jill Borland (Enable Change) have teamed up to proudly enable space for people interested in gender equality to come together without barriers, to connect, learn and explore their contribution to change.
The intended outcomes of this event contribute to building human and social capital in Aotearoa New Zealand and to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals of gender equality and women’s empowerment (goal 5) and reducing inequality (goal 10)
