Alcohol Ink & Shellac Burn on Encaustic with Shannon Mello

Encaustic painting is a process of painting using beeswax and tree resin, and melting it into layers.

In this four hour session, students will expand on encaustic basics, learning to layer with brilliant alcohol ink and textures with shellac. Students will experiment with encaustic paints, charcoal transfers, shellac burn, and alcohol inks. Students will walk away with a practice piece, a 6”x6” panel, and an 8”x8” cradled panel ready to hang.

Prior experience with encaustic basics is preferred but not required. Come ready to get messy and creative. Looking forward to sharing my passion with you!

All supplies are included. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting messy in, bring your own drink of choice and Shannon will supply some light snacks.
