"ENCOUNTER; a provocative performance blending daring physical theatre with bold storytelling. Written by S.M. Raju and Aparna Sindhoor, and inspired by Magsaysay awardee Mahasweta Devi’s short story, Encounter is a passionate story of an indigenous woman, Dopdi, and her defiance against injustice. Music by National award-winning composer Isaac Thomas Kottukapally and choreographed and directed by Aparna Sindhoor and Anil Natyaveda.

Please note that Dance Mission Theater is located on the second floor and is accessible by an elevator or stairs (about 20 stairs). If you need wheelchair / limited mobility seating, please choose the "ADA seating" option when choosing tickets. If you have other accessibilty needs, please email info@dancemission.com at least 48 hrs prior to the show that you would liket to attend!

Parking and public transportation: Dance Mission Theater is located directly across the street from the 24/Mission BART station and is on MUNI Lines 12, 14, 49, 48, 67, and 48. If you do decide to drive, give yourself time to find parking as it can be difficult. The closest parking lot is at 21/Bartlett Streets, about a 5 min walk from the theater.
