End of Life Doula with Treza Gallogly
Event description
Join us in person or by Zoom for this celebrant specific event about being an end-of-life doula.
Treza Gallogly - founder of Swansong - will share with us her experience as a trained End-of-Life Doula. She brings to the role experience as a nurse, mother, business owner, and volunteer.
The doula model of care encourages the person to shape their own future, by making informed decisions and enabling them to prepare well for their best life, and death. Doulas provide non-medical holistic care - practical, spiritual, emotional, cultural and social. They look at what the person needs - as they need it - and work alongside the health team and other professionals who are providing clinical and alternative care. Most importantly, they take a family/whānau-centred approach, as support of the family is also top priority when a loved one is nearing their death.
Her passion is to support those who wish to die at home, and to make sure people know what options they have to control their own life & death journey.
