Energy Champions Training, Townsville, QLD
Event description
Are you interested in how the renewable energy transition can benefit communities here in North Queensland?
Would you like to brush up on your knowledge and meet other local champions of renewable energy? Yes? Then this FREE Energy Champions Training is for you!
This workshop will be held on July 13 at JCU's Bebegu Yumba campus and is run by Solar Citizens, Friends of the Earth Melbourne, North Queensland Conservation Council and The Climate Reality Project Australia & Pacific.
Wholesome lunch will be provided.
Why this matters:
NQCC, Solar Citizens and our allies have advocated for a just transition to renewable energy in Townsville - helping to create a shared vision of a flourishing future for all.
There are big decisions being made about renewables and energy in Queensland and Townsville, now is a critical time for our political leaders to hear and act on the views of people and communities.
In the age of social media and misinformation, this is becoming harder. A lot of people in our community are confused about what our energy transition might look like and what impacts it will have on our environment, our health and the cost of living.
It is more important than ever that Townsville have a say about where our energy transition is heading, and the benefits that can come with it if done well. That's why we need local energy champions to share this story and help create momentum.
Why attend the training?
- Connect with fellow change-makers and learn about climate impacts and solutions and what you can do to be an energy champion.
- Develop skills and tools to tackle difficult climate conversations, bust myths and share your story about the energy transition.
- Be a part of a growing national network of problem solvers and innovators committed to a clean energy future for all Australians.
- Gain a better understanding of clean energy opportunities in and around Townsville and how you can get involved.
