    Join us as we ignite the community conversation about hydrogen and other local advanced manufacturing in the Gladstone Region. 

    As well, we will be showcasing emerging science and innovation research, including citizen science, and practical tips for being more sustainable.

    Following the keynote address by Mr Peter Goggin, Stanwell's Manager of Hydrogen Development, our expert panellists will each give a short presentation followed by a Q&A session for our audience to ask anything and everything energy, environment and our sustainable future CQ. 

    Here's a closer look at who you'll meet:

    Assistant Minister Hon Lance McCallum MP

    Lance is the Member for Bundamba in the Queensland Parliament, where he is proud to be one of three serving First Nations Members.

    He is also proud to the Assistant Minister for Hydrogen Development and the 50% Renewable Energy Target by 2030.

    Lance is a committed advocate for social justice and equity of opportunity for secure jobs, health, education, essential services and public services as part of a sustainable future for all.

    He holds a master’s degree in Climate Policy and Sustainability.

    Peter Goggin (Keynote Address)

    Manager Hydrogen Development, Stanwell Corporation

    Peter is a passionate advocate of renewable energy, energy efficiency and more recently the green hydrogen sector. He has almost 30 years’ experience in the electricity industry in business development, commercialisation, and project delivery roles. He has previously worked across solar PV, energy efficiency, battery, wind, bioenergy and waste to energy domains. In his role at Stanwell, he is tasked with developing a sustainable domestic business model in renewable hydrogen by leveraging the experience gained in the Central Queensland Hydrogen (CQH2) Project.

    Peter believes success for Australia in renewable hydrogen will come from commercial collaboration and building strong alliances.

    Garry Mewett

    Christine Williams

    Christine is currently Chair of the Board of Life Sciences Queensland Limited and a member of the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur’s Innovation Advisory Council. She has served as Acting Queensland Chief Scientist and Assistant Director-General, Science.

    Christine is passionate about the role science can play in improving lives here and abroad; the role citizen scientists can play in collecting information; and the key role that women have in achieving better outcomes in STEM and business.

    Prof Murray Shearer

    Murray is the Chair and Professor of Hydrogen and Renewable Energies at CQUniversity. His current activities include the establishment of a Hydrogen Centre of Excellence for Central Queensland.

    Murray has worked as Production Optimisation Manager for BP in Iraq and Project Development Officer for BP in a Global role. He worked in Hydrogen Energy with JV in Rio Tinto where he planned the world’s first industrial-scale hydrogen power project, capturing carbon dioxide from natural gas and permanently storing it.
