Join us for our Engaging in Science - Scenic Rim Event!
Are you an avid explorer or a budding conservationist? Perhaps you’re a local wanting to learn more about your stunning backyard? Join us as we take a deep dive into Queensland’s oldest national park by registering for our FREE Engaging in Science event on Saturday the 23rd of March from 1:00pm.
Held at St George’s Anglican Church on Wangerriburra Country, Mount Tamborine, this event will highlight the unique and threatened species of the mountain. You’ll be able to participate in citizen science in the iconic Tamborine National Park, while learning and connecting with experts.
Where? St George’s Anglican Church, Mount Tamborine
When? Saturday 23rd March from 1:00pm - 6:00pm, optional spotlighting from 6:45pm
Here’s what you can expect:
- Welcome to Country from a Wangerriburra Elder
- Introduction to the local Friends of Parks group
- Quoll talk & camera trap collection with data analysis from the Quoll Society of Australia
- Botanical talk & walk with citizen science legend, Rob Price
- Frog talk and walk with Jean-Marc Hero
- Threatened glider presentation with Wildlife Queensland
- Optional spotlighting for nocturnal animals
- Afternoon tea and dinner provided
Who is this event for?
- Anyone wanting to learn & explore the natural world
- Individuals wanting to network with researchers and conservationists
- We recommend ages 16+
- A moderate level of physical fitness is recommended
What to bring:
- Enclosed footwear is a must
- Long pants, insect repellent, a hat, and water bottle for the walks
- A mobile phone with the iNaturalist app installed
- A torch if you are joining us for spotlighting
Refreshments are provided. This event is free, however places are limited. Please reserve your spot by booking through HumaniTix. Registered attendees will receive the runsheet via email.
