Event description

Bara Barang Corporation Ltd (BBC) is the only Aboriginal community controlled employment and training service based on the Central Coast. We are hosting a new annual business networking evening, to be held at the recently refurbished Gudjagang Ngara Li-dhi (GNL) Aboriginal Community Space, 4 Church Street Wyong.

The business community on the Central Coast is experiencing acute skills shortages and a scarcity of candidates applying for job vacancies in the post-Covid economic recovery. Industry peak bodies state that their members struggle to attract and engage young people to consider careers in a variety of occupations.

BBC supports Aboriginal young people 16-25 years on their career journey and so is uniquely positioned to offer the business community access to a 'hidden pool' of talent, previously overlooked but now more critical than every to engage with so that workforce needs are met and a win-win is created for all stakeholders.

Speakers will include select Management and Directors of Bara Barang, who will discuss Indigenous entrepreneurship, the synergy created when mainstream enterprises engage with Aboriginal business and how connection to culture allows Aboriginal employees to thrive.

Now that Covid restrictions have eased, the evening allows BBC to expand its voice from around economic taskforce and industry tables, to a public event where Aboriginal business wisdom can shift mindsets to create greater collaboration, equality and community impact.
