Echoes and Orbits is an eclectic yet intimate show, featuring funky and fun solos and duos for percussion and cello hailing from Australia and America. Set aside your preconceptions about chamber music - this is fresh new music which abandons convention and pushes the cello (in combination with rhythmic percussion) out of its traditional classical comfort zone and into the worlds of jazz, funk and pop. Many of the works were commissioned by Claire & Blair and all were penned within the last decade, a time of musical evolution with the integration of popular culture into new music. Echoes and Orbits takes listeners to a new stratosphere of sonic pleasures - a place of wonder and joy and new sonic discoveries for the next generation of listeners.
