Are you a former resident at the Enterprise Migrant Hostel in Springvale? Are you part of the Salvadoran or Central American community? You are invited to gather at the former Enterprise Migrant Hostel. You are invited to gather at the former Enterprise Migrant Hostel
This is an invitation to artists, family, friends and community who were former residents or connected to the site when it functioned as the Enterprise Migrant Hostel (1969-1992). We invite you to visit the site, walk through the space, connect, and share stories with one another.
11am gather at the grass area/former football field
11.15am Welcome to Country
11.30am-12.15pm morning tea and presentation about the project (with current residents)
12.15-1pm walking tour of the site (this will be a walking/memory tour with the group)
1-1.30pm wrap up.
*morning tea and coffee provided
*please note there will be videography and photography on the day.
We invite you to bring along with you to the site visit, photos or significant object/s that were of importance to you during your time at the Hostel. You’ll be invited (completely voluntarily) to take a portraiture photography of you and the object onsite and share a little about its significance.
“Embodied Archiving: Migrant Hostel” Project Summary- Interdisciplinary artists will be invited to develop creative site-responsive works that draw from experiences at the former Springvale Migrant Hostel. The final creative works will be shown at Bunjil Place September 2023. This project is part of Archiving the Present a multi-site archive project of memory as creative practice, from a Central Americanista perspective https://archivingthepresent.com/ and made possible by Bunjil Place New Ground Commissions.

¿Era usted residente del hostal para migrantes Enterprise Migrant Hostel en Springvale? ¿Es usted parte de la comunidad salvadoreña o centroamericana? Le invitamos a participar en una reunión en el antiguo Enterprise Migrant Hostel.
Esta es una invitación para artistas, familiares, amigos y la comunidad de quienes eran residentes o tiene alguna conexión con el sitio que antes operaba como el Enterprise Migrant Hostel (1969-1992). Le invitamos a visitar el sitio, recorrer el espacio, crear conexiones y compartir historias con otras personas.
11 a. m. reunión en el área verde/antiguo campo de fútbol
11:15 a. m. Welcome to Country (Bienvenida a la tierra)
11:30 a. m. – 12.15 p. m. Refrigerio y presentación acerca del proyecto (con los residentes actuales)
12:15 p. m. – 1:00 p. m. Recorrido alrededor del sitio (esta será una caminata/paseo de remembranza con el grupo)
1:00 – 1:30 p. m. Conclusión
*proporcionaremos el refrigerio y café
*por favor tome en cuenta que se grabarán videos y se tomarán fotografías durante el evento.
El día de la visita, le invitamos a que traiga consigo fotos o algún objeto significativo para usted que haya sido importante para usted durante su estancia en el hostal. Le invitaremos (de manera totalmente voluntaria) a posar para una fotografía de su retrato con el objeto, y a que nos comparta un poco acerca de su importancia.
Resumen del Proyecto “Embodied Archiving: Migrant Hostel”- Se invitará a artistas interdisciplinarios a desarrollar obras creativas que respondan al espacio y que se inspiren en las experiencias que tomaron lugar en el antiguo hostal Springvale Migrant Hostel. Las obras creativas finales se exhibirán en Bunjil Place en septiembre de 2023.Este proyecto es parte de Archiving the Present, un proyecto en múltiples ubicaciones que tiene el objetivo de crear un archivo de recuerdos como una práctica creativa y desde una perspectiva centroamericana https://archivingthepresent.com/ , y se hace posible gracias a Bunjil Place New Ground Commissions
