The Home Care Workforce Support Program, in partnership with OCTEC Training, are running a tailored short course, Entry into Care Role Skillset, helping build skills and confidence to succeed in the aged care sector.  

What is a skillset and when is it running?

    Our 3-week program is specifically designed to address the entry-level quality training beneficial for jobseekers looking to be up skilled within the Aged Care Sector. It is designed to prepare HCWSP participants to provide care to older adults accessing Home Care support and gain an industry recognized qualification in a shorter amount of time.

    The course will run later this year (the exact dates will be announced shortly) and will cover the following units:

    • Provide individualized support (CHCCCS015)
    • Follow safe work practices for direct client care (HLTWHS002)
    • Provide First Aid (HLTAID011)

      OCTEC is an established Registered Training Organization delivering high quality training courses across a range of industry sectors. They have more than 30 years of experience in delivering Nationally Accredited Industry Training and The Phillips Centre is their main training facility for aged care courses held in Orange.

      The Phillips Centre is a state of the art fully equipped Learning Environment designed to provide an immersive learning experience to students wanting to train and upskill in aged care and community services.

      What do I get when I complete the course?

        This skillset is suited to jobseekers who are new to the industry and looking to get a taste of care role qualifications or previously qualified professionals looking to refresh their industry knowledge on current practices.

        Aside from skills and knowledge acquired from completing a Nationally Accredited Training with an established RTO, students who complete the program will receive a Certificate of Attainment with units they can have recognized towards a Certificate qualification in Community Services or Aged Care in future.

        Who is eligible and is it free?

          Everyone is eligible for Smart and Skilled NSW funding can access this course fee-free but this may vary for visa holders.
