The Future of our Environment
Event description
The findings of the 2019/2020 Samuel's Review into our national environmental protection laws (EPBC Act)Â gave us a roadmap for once-in-a-generation reform.Â
Professor Samuel found our EPBC Act "outdated" and in need of "fundamental reform". He presented the Government with an integrated suite of 38 recommendations to strengthen Australia's environmental laws.
But that was four years ago. Why is reform taking so long and where is our Government actually up to?
Join us on April 4th from 6pm at the Independent Theatre to hear exactly what we know, where there is still work to do, and how you can help ensure this reform leaves a better world for our children and their children.Â
The panel will be emceed by Maria Poulos Conklin, Parliamentary and Political Relations Manager, ACF followed by a Q&A from the audience.Â
Our panellists are:Â
- James Trezise, Director, Biodiversity Council
- Rachel Walmsley, Head of Policy and Law Reform, Environmental Defenders Office
- Genevieve Stewart, Campaigner, Climate Council
- Nic Clyde, Campaign Coordinator, Lock the Gate
- Kylea Tink MP, Independent Federal Member for North Sydney
