Corporal Kbora Ali's journey is one of resilience and determination. As the first Afghan woman to enlist in the Australian Army, she defied stereotypes and cultural norms to pursue her dream of serving her adopted country. Arriving in Adelaide in 2007 with her family, including her father who had sought refuge from Afghanistan, Ali quickly made her mark. Despite the challenges of adapting to a new culture and language, she excelled academically, earning three Dux awards and achieving an impressive ATAR of 97.

But Ali's achievements extend far beyond the classroom. Her passion for martial arts led her to compete internationally, showcasing her physical prowess and discipline. As a UNICEF Australia Young Ambassador, she used her platform to advocate for children's rights and humanitarian causes.

In 2023, Ali embarked on the Trans-Tasman Business Circle Women Leaders Study Tour, further expanding her horizons and networking with influential leaders. Despite her demanding military duties, she found time to run her first marathon and engage in parliamentary participation, earning recognition from Vice Admiral David Johnston.

Yet, Ali's commitment to making a difference doesn't end there. She actively supports education and healthcare initiatives in remote regions of her homeland, leveraging her position and resources to uplift communities in need. Her unwavering dedication to humanitarian efforts underscores her belief in the power of service and compassion.

Currently stationed in Adelaide with the 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, Ali continues to inspire others with her resilience, courage, and selflessness. Her upcoming interview with The Noor Podcast at TechCentral Lecture Theatre, Lot Fourteen on Tuesday, 30th of April offers a rare opportunity for the public to hear firsthand about her remarkable journey. Tickets for the event are available free of charge, inviting all to witness the story of a true trailblazer.
