Are you a family member of a person with an intellectual disability?

You are invited to be part of a conversation about employment for people with an intellectual disability. It will be led by Catherine McAlpine, CEO of Inclusion Australia.

Inclusion Australia is the national representative organisation for people with an intellectual disability and their families.

Why are we talking about employment?

People with an intellectual disability and their families tell us that having a job matters.

Work can give us purpose and helps us feel valued. It can be a place to learn new skills, and a way to feel part of the community.

We want more people with an intellectual disability to have these opportunities, and more.

Fair pay matters

People with an intellectual disability work hard and care about their jobs. Sadly, many people are paid just $2.60 an hour for their work.

When people are not paid fairly, they often live in poverty or stay dependent on other people. We think having a job should also mean getting paid fairly.

Our plan

We have a new five-year plan to create more job opportunities for people with an intellectual disability.

We made the plan with people with an intellectual disability, families, advocacy organisations, and university experts.

About the session

This is a free information session for families about our plan and Inclusion Australia's work around employment on Monday 13 February at City West Lotteries House. Others are also welcome to attend. There will be time for questions and information sharing.

Light refreshments will be provided.
