Equalising Employment Opportunities - Forum for people with disability and businesses to create solutions to meaningful employment

This forum will provide you with an an opportunity to engage in discussions with people with disability and businesses to create positive and innovative solutions for increasing employment opportunities.

It will explore how people with disability add value to the workplace through being productive members of teams and adding to the diverse workplace culture.

People with disability have told us that they want to engage in a job that they are passionate about, where their skills, knowledge and experience will be valued and utilised. They also want to be challenged to grow their skills and grow professionally. These are goals we all want to achieve in our work life.

This forum will also focus on understanding and uncovering enablers for people with disability and businesses - that will make it easier for people with disability to be engaged in meaningful employment. We will discuss a range of topics that are key in reducing barriers that both people with disability and businesses may be encountering throughout the employment journey, and how we could tackle these.

About the Presenters:

Ange Boyd is an Executive Consultant with Social Scaffolding and has worked in both the public and private sectors. Ange is passionate about working with others to create innovative solutions that bring about meaningful and sustainable solutions for people experiencing disadvantage. This has included working alongside people with disability to navigate the NDIS and to develop personalised career goals that would see them having more choice and control over their lives.

Karin Swift is a consultant with over 25 years experience in the disability sector and advocacy. Karin is passionate about inclusive service responses for women with disability in relation to Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) and women's health. Karin is known internationally for her work in preventing violence against women with disability and has represented Australia at the United Nations, New York, Jakarta, Indonesia and South Korea in her capacity as President of Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA). Karin has led many projects in a range of areas including DFV, health, the NDIS, and worked as a policy officer for Queenslanders with Disability Network.

Andrew Hamilton is the Director of Social Scaffolding and has worked in corporates, governments, small business, not for profits and been self-employed. He's been very fortunate in having a career pathway of choice, and is inspired to help others achieve the same positive experiences. This has included working with social enterprises, ADEs and NDIS providers working with people of all ability.
