Following on from the Culture First Chapter meeting in Melbourne last Wednesday I'm giving you the chance to come play and learn with real live horses and ponies to get a deeper understanding of how this experiential learning works and how it applies to teams, culture, learning and leadership.

Don't panic if you have a healthy cautious respect for horses as we have three levels of interaction. The first is from outside the arena and the third is actually in contact with our magnificent equine teachers. I will also send you, upon booking, a short Safety video which I ask participants to watch a couple of times before arriving which will help you feel and stay safe around our horses. (NOTE not all horses are the same). My primary role in this is to keep both you and our horses safe at all times, and we follow strict guidelines to do so.

I'll have a warm morning tea ready for you on arrival so don't be late. (Please reply to dietary requirements on booking).

I will recap on what EAL (Equine Assisted Learning) or EFL (Equine Facilitated Learning) is all about and introduce the session objective before we head out to the arena, where you will be placed in small groups, do a bit of practice becoming familiar with your new team member, and then you will proceed to start what we call stations (small activities for learning together).

Then we will return to the nice warm training room for a debrief, discussions, Q & A. and farewell.

You are more than welcome to bring a colleague, peer or senior leader along as then the discussion back in the office or car can expand and be recalled with even more aha moments coming to you in the following days. The value of something like this is usually $250/pp.

Horses teach us how to trust ourselves, when to speed up and when to slow down, even when to rest, how to manage our emotions and calm our minds so we can be truly present to what is happening around us and change for a better result for the collective benefit of all and how to lead in uncertainty and ambiguity. Their fundamental truth is that we are all better together than apart.

And the value of developing all these skills that surround their sustainable, healthy communities are all the intangibles of our human capital.

To quote Chris Ernst (CLO of Workday) in the Deloitte 2023 Global Human Capital Trends report. "Success will come to those who can experiment with what's possible to create sustainable work models and elevated outcomes." I believe that EAL is a non-judgmental, objective and instant way to explore this.
