EQUS Showcase Sydney - The Quantum Experience at Macquarie University

The Quantum Experience is your unique opportunity to find out what "quantum" is all about and why it seems to be everywhere these days in science and technology. Dr Lachlan Rogers will lead an immersive journey into the captivating world of quantum science, and there will be opportunities for Q&As with quantum physicists, hands-on activities, intriguing demos, and more!

Since 2011, the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems (EQUS) has been engineering the quantum future by building quantum machines that harness the quantum world for practical applications. As EQUS concludes in 2025, we are celebrating our achievements and the exciting new initiatives that will continue to accelerate Australia’s quantum ecosystem. The Quantum Experience is the first event in our EQUS Showcase Series around Australia.

Lachlan, based in the School of Information and Physical Sciences at the University of Newcastle, is a lecturer, experimental physicist, and podcaster on the Clear as Quantum podcast. He is known for his work with quantum diamonds, from shining lasers at diamonds to make them glow, to "listening" to single atoms in the crystal, his work is as fascinating as it is impactful. He serves as an Associate Investigator at EQUS, where his focus on diamonds is paving the way for innovative quantum technologies, including quantum computers and medical sensors.
