From AI Mockups to Market-Ready: Navigating the Design Gap
Encore Virtual Workshop — Hosted by Erin Stewart, Scenic West Design

AI tools like Figma Make, Claude, Replit, and ChatGPT have made it easier than ever for founders to generate UI mockups in minutes—but turning those mockups into a usable, sellable, and scalable product is where most teams get stuck.

If you missed this session at Startup Mountain Summit, this encore virtual edition brings the most valuable parts of the workshop straight to you.

In this session, we’ll walk through:

Why AI makes design feel “done”… when it’s not

Most founders can prompt AI and get a clean UI. But when it’s time to ship?
Screens don’t connect, flows break, states are missing, developers have 100 follow-up questions, and everything starts to feel generic.

What AI is great at—and where it consistently struggles

We’ll break down the strengths (rapid exploration, variants, brainstorming) and the gaps (IA, hierarchy, edge cases, modern UX, product strategy).

A live walkthrough of the ZenHammer AI Design Challenge

See how a real startup (ZenHammer, based in Johnson City, TN) used an AI-assisted workflow to redesign their Subcontractor Management experience—from requirements to flows to AI-generated prototypes.
We’ll unpack:

Key requirements from their founder conversation
Where AI performed well
Where refinement, UX strategy, and product thinking were still essential

A practical 4-step process for going from transcript → PRD → AI prototype

You’ll learn the workflow Erin uses with startups:

Meeting transcript → requirements doc
Requirements → user flows
Create a prompt + PRD
Run prompts across AI prototyping tools (Figma Make, Claude, Replit, etc.)

How to bridge the AI Design Gap

We’ll walk through how to refine what AI creates so you can confidently move toward market-ready:

Improving prompts
Layering product strategy
Adding UX patterns + brand consistency
Validating with users

Who this workshop is for

Founders, lean product teams, and anyone experimenting with AI-assisted product design.

What you’ll walk away with

A repeatable workflow for turning rough AI mockups into practical prototypes
Clarity on what AI can and cannot do in the design process
A first-pass PRD + prompting framework you can use immediately
Insight from a real startup example
Steps for validating and refining your AI-generated designs
