Young Mining Professionals Brisbane and MEC Mining are pleased to invite you to our next Wine after Work event, which will include a thought-provoking panel discussion on Exploring ESG Risks, Mine Closure, and Greenwashing in the Mining Industry.
The mining industry is under increasing pressure to address environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks, including mine closure and greenwashing. Our expert panellists will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the industry in this evolving landscape, including the role of regulators, investors, and communities. Join us for a candid and insightful conversation on these critical issues.
Our panel of guest speakers who will impart their knowledge and unique insights on the night are:
1. Paul King, Principal Mining Engineer, MEC Mining
Paul is a Principal Mining Engineer with MEC Mining and has experience across a diverse range of Mining Engineering roles in multiple commodities. With strong technical backing, Paul has completed a variety of site-based roles, mine studies, project feasibility work and business improvement roles. Paul specialises in short-term through to life-of-mine planning, mine studies, and carbon reduction strategies for the mining industry.
2. Mark Breitfuss, Managing Director/Principal Environmental Scientist, Epic Environmental
Mark is Certified Environmental Practitioner most of his work is focused on the regulatory interactions between government and industry, particularly in the resources, water, energy and environmental sectors. He has a range of experience in the successful implementation of strategies required to gain regulatory approvals, improve performance, manage risk and deliver success to provide quality outcomes for clients.
3. David Harley, Partner, Holding Redlich
David is a projects lawyer who specialises in the development and operation of projects in the transport, energy, utilities, mining, hospitality and entertainment, waste and infrastructure sectors for both owners and contractors. He has major project experience internationally and in-house, having undertaken long-term secondments in the energy, mining and transport sectors.
