Espalier Workshop with Limestone Permaculture
Event description
This is a hands on, participatory workshop taught by Brett Cooper from Limestone Permaculture. With over 20 years experience practicing permaculture, Brett has extensive knowledge with building and maintaining espalier systems.
What is espalier: a method of controlling the growth of a fruit tree in a flat plane, usually on a wire trellis, against a wall or fence.
Benefits of espalier:
- Increased yields
- Organic pest management
- Ease of harvest
- Controlled/compact growth
- Fit more varieties in a space
- Easy to construct
In this workshop you will learn:
- How to build your own espalier systems for your fruit trees
- How to convert an existing fruit tree into an espalier system
- Pruning techniques for apples, pears and stone fruit
This workshop is beginner friendly and the techniques can be applied to any size property.
Please note that morning tea will be provided (gluten free) but please BYO lunch.Â
Arnie's Espresso Bar (located on the property) will be open on the day til 12pm, if you fancy a coffee :)Â

- Closed in shoes
- Appropriate garden clothing
- Gloves
- Water bottle

- Wet weather gear (if necessary)
