Event description

"I have done many first aid courses, but the one I took last year at ANCAD was the absolute best, most practical and enjoyable one I’ve ever attended." Hannah

DATE: Friday, March 8

TIME: 9.30am to 2.30pm.

LUNCH: Provided

VENUE: Pest Free Kaipatiki, 3 Ross Avenue, Glenfield (this is updated from the promo tile above).

In this workshop we will cover:

Workplaces need to ensure that they meet WorkSafe NZ requirements for first aiders. This shorter course can be helpful as an additional course for workplaces who wish to go above and beyond their legal requirements and ensure that ALL their staff know what to do in an emergency, without the huge cost and time commitments of the longer NZQA courses.

This is a concise practical course covering general First Aid. It looks at:

  • CPR (practice with manikins-chest compressions only, but not mouth to mouth) plus use of automated defibrillators in a public setting;
  • Choke-rescue techniques (practice with manikins);
  • Dealing with emergency medical situations such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetic emergencies, seizures, etc;
  • Dealing with other emergency situations such as burns, allergic reactions, poisonings, concussion, broken bones, etc.

Everyone on the course receives a booklet, to complement the explanations and demonstrations on the course. Participants also receive a certificate. The course is four hours long.

Presenter: Sarah Thomson (First Aid First)

Recommendations from previous participants:

"Thanks so much for coming to us - my staff have all commented on your session as being the most useful they have ever had - so thanks so much for making it easy and understandable for us." Sue, After School Care

"Thanks heaps for all of the great tips you gave us. It was definitely the best first aid course I've been too with lots of practical advice, so thank you! I was expecting to come and learn about CPR and choking, but the course was so much more comprehensive which was awesome; fingers and toes crossed we never need to use the majority of it!" Melissa

"Thank you again for the great course - everyone got a lot out of it and found it easy to understand and an easy atmosphere to ask questions." Mark

"Just a note to say thank you for an excellent first aid course last night. My Dad and I learned a lot. The booklet is great to refer to as well. I feel much more prepared!" Victoria
