In this workshop we will cover:

Workplaces need to ensure that they meet WorkSafe NZ requirements for first aiders. This shorter course can be helpful as an additional course for workplaces who wish to go above and beyond their legal requirements and ensure that ALL their staff know what to do in an emergency, without the huge cost and time commitments of the longer NZQA courses.

This is a concise practical course covering general First Aid. It looks at:

CPR (practice with manikins-chest compressions only, but not mouth to mouth) plus use of automated defibrillators in a public setting
Choke-rescue techniques (practice with manikins)
Dealing with emergency medical situations such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetic emergencies, seizures, etc
Dealing with other emergency situations such as burns, allergic reactions, poisonings, concussion, broken bones, etc.

Everyone on the course receives a booklet, to complement the explanations and demonstrations on the course. Participants also receive a certificate. The course is four hours long.

Testimonials from previous attendees:

"I have done many first aid courses, but this one given by Sarah was the absolute best, most practical and enjoyable one I've ever attended."
“I really enjoyed the practical advice Sarah gave and the many relevant experiences that helped put things into context."
"Essential information given, neatly summarised so you don't have to remember unessential things. Good anecdotes to help us remember. All questions patiently answered."

This session sits within the Culture, Wellbeing & Safe Operations area of the LiiFT Aotearoa framework and supports organisations across the Foundations stage.
