Essentials of Medical Abortion for Pharmacists

SHQ is now offering a medical abortion workshop for pharmacists looking to introduce or improve the provision of medical abortion medications to their clients.

Following recent legislative reforms around abortion in Western Australia, as well as the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) lifting dispensing restrictions for MS-2 Step, we have developed this two-hour workshop to equip pharmacists and pharmacy students with the necessary knowledge to provide care to people seeking medical abortion.

This interactive workshop will provide WA pharmacists with:

• knowledge about the medications used for medical abortion
• an understanding of the WA abortion legislation and how it applies to pharmacists, including conscientious objection
• an introduction to the 1800 4 Choice helpline and interactive map and other useful resources to support pharmacists in their role

The workshop will be facilitated by SHQ clinicians with experience in abortion care.
