About the Performers
Ethan Lu, Piano
Ethan began his musical journey at the tender age of 4, discovering a deep passion for the piano. Over the years, his love for music blossomed, and he expanded his repertoire to include the violin and saxophone. With a keen interest in Baroque music, Ethan draws immense inspiration from his favorite composer, Johann Sebastian Bach.
His dedication to music stems purely from his love for the art, choosing to focus on personal growth and enjoyment rather than formal grading or competition. This intrinsic motivation has shaped Ethan into a versatile and expressive musician.
After just 4 years of learning piano, Ethan took a significant step by participating in the Sydney Eisteddfod, performing Rachmaninoff's Prelude Op. 32 No. 12, an AMus piece. Competing in the 9-year-old group, marking a notable milestone in his musical journey.
Ethan continues to immerse himself in the world of music, driven by his passion and commitment to mastering his instruments and exploring new horizons in the musical landscape.
Kathy Piao, Piano
Kathy is a young musician with a vivid imagination and a deep love for music. She began her musical journey at the age of five, studying both piano and violin. Since then, she has developed a strong passion for exploring sound, melody and musical expression.
Kathy enjoys performing and has appeared in numerous concerts both indoors and outdoors. She has been invited to perform in the ABC The Piano pop-up concert series at Darling Harbour, where her performances were featured by ABC, as well as at the Queen Victoria Building and the Sydney Opera House through the Concerts for All series. She was also invited by Australian composer Yantra to perform at a concert on the Central Coast. Her performances have always been warmly received by the audience. In addition, she was one of only two guest performers at her teacher Elen Rapoport’s solo recital.
Her musical achievements have been recognised in both national and international competitions. She won First Prize with the highest mark in her age group at the St George Eisteddfod and has received multiple First Prizes and the Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize in international competitions. These achievements led to invitations to perform at Winners’ Concerts at Carnegie Hall in New York and the Berlin Philharmonic Hall in Germany.
In addition to performing, Kathy enjoys composing and exploring music through multiple instruments, including piano, violin, flute and marimba. For her, music is both a playground of imagination and a beautiful way to connect with people.

A young conductor based in Sydney. Omid studied a Masters in Music (Conducting) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and under many prominent teachers such as Dr Wojciech Wiśniewski, Dr Suzanna Hlinka, and Dr Alistair Noble.
The Sydney Concert Orchestra
Founded in 2022, the Sydney Concert Orchestra is a symphony orchestra based in Australia. It consists of a wide range of young and emerging musicians who all share a common passion for music. The SCO has experienced quite the rapid run of success, captivating their audiences with passionate interpretations of prominent symphonic works after just two concerts.
The Sydney Concert Orchestra ultimately presents young and emerging musicians a genuine taste of what the professional orchestral life entails. The aim is to make their music as accessible as possible whilst maintaining an elite standard of performance. SCO believes that musicians are deserving of more space and opportunities to perform and thus the SCO is here to provide.

- Is there parking available at the venue?
There is no guest parking available on-site. All parking spaces at the front of the building are strictly reserved for authorised building personnel only. We recommend the following nearby street parking options:

- What is the best way to get there by public transport?
Master Music Studio is a 5-minute walk from the Glebe Light Rail station or a 6-minute walk from the Wentworth Park Light Rail Station.
- Where is the entrance to the venue?
The studio is located at Unit 6, 80 Wentworth Park Rd, Glebe. The main entrance is accessible directly from Wentworth Park Road. Please look for the Master Music Studio signage upon arrival.
- How accessible is the venue for guests with limited mobility?
Our venue is accessed via stairs only and does not have lift access. We recognise this may present a barrier for guests with limited mobility. If you have any questions regarding the building layout or your visit, please contact masterpianoinstitute@gmail.com.
