Ethics Tune Up
Event description
ETHICS TUNE UP: HOW TO LIVE A GOOD LIFE
WEDNESDAY 6 NOVEMBER 6PM – 8PM AEDTÂ
Every major decision we make is guided by our vision of a good life. But there are so many voices telling us what that vision ought to be, whether it’s about success, wealth, status, family, happiness or something else entirely. How do we know which vision is the right one for us? How do we know we’re not making decisions according to someone else’s vision of a good life instead of our own?
This workshop will explore a wide range of visions of a good life, including those put forward by major philosophers from throughout history, and give a practical guide to finding and realising your own vision of the life you want to live.
You’ll share the session with other curious participants, who are willing to delve deeper into the mess and complexity of what it means to be human.Â
ETHICS TUNE UP: ETHICS AT WORK
THURSDAY 14 NOVEMBER 6PM - 8PM AEDTÂ
We spend roughly one third of our life at work. It shapes our identity, brings us meaning and funds everything else we do. What we do at work also impacts the world and the people around us. So how do we know we’re doing a job that accords with our deepest ethical values? How do we know we’re making the world a better place through the work we do? How can we ensure that our workplace operates with integrity and high ethical standards?
This workshop looks at how to find an ethical job or be ethical at the job you’re in, and how to make a positive impact through the work we do, including how to avoid the most common ethical pitfalls like conflicts of interest, clashing values and how to promote a culture of openness and accountability.Â
Â
This intimate, in person session will be fun, playful and interactive where we hope to unlock the wisdom in the room as well as leave with new insights. You’ll meet other curious people, who are willing to delve deeper into the mess and complexity of what it means to be human.Â
ETHICS TUNE UP: THE ART OF DISAGREEMENT
WEDNESDAY 27 NOVEMBER, 6PM - 8PM AEDTÂ
We have all had arguments with friends, family, colleagues or strangers about what is right and wrong – and many of those conversations have probably not gone well. Why is it so hard to discuss ethical questions? Can we learn to disagree better? Is it possible to have an argument without losing friends? This workshop will uncover the complexities of disagreement and provide tried and tested tips to help you engage with different perspectives in good faith, and maybe even change some minds while you are at it.
This intimate, in person session will be fun, playful and interactive where we hope to unlock the wisdom in the room as well as leave with new insights. You’ll meet other curious people, who are willing to delve deeper into the mess and complexity of what it means to be human.Â
