Event description

The Ethics of Being Young: A special presentation in partnership with Sydney Theatre Company

DATE & TIME
Thursday 21 November
6pm – 7pm AEDT

LOCATION
Wharf 2 Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company, The Wharf, 15 Hickson Rd, Dawes Point

It’s never been easier or harder to be a young person. While the standard of living for most people under 30 is far better today than it was 50 or 100 years ago, young people are entering a world that is divided, unstable and with a radically changing climate.

The Ethics Centre’s Senior Philosopher Dr Tim Dean will be joined by two special guests, including actor and playwright Emmanuelle Mattana (Trophy Boys, STC Watershed writer) and young thinker Phaedra Carantinos to explore what it means to be a young person today. Who are young people expected to be? Can they have a positive impact on the world they’re set to inherit, when facing their own growing crises in conflict, climate, mental health, misuse of technology, sexism, racism, and a morally charged society quick to punish those who misspeak?

This special presentation offers fans a chance to experience The Ethics of... in the fresh, inspiring surrounds of Sydney Theatre Company, to coincide with their season of Broadway smash hit Dear Evan Hansen.

Please note:

  • This special presentation of The Ethics of will not be hosted at The Ethics Centre. We will see you at Wharf 2 Theatre, The Wharf, 15 Hickson Rd, Dawes Point.
  • The Ethics of being young has an earlier start time of 6pm to accommodate guests booked to see Dear Evan Hansen at 7.30pm. If you haven’t booked for Dear Evan Hansen, there are limited seats available, book here.

About The Ethics Of
