The Ethics of Being Young
Event description
The Ethics of Being Young:Â A special presentation in partnership with Sydney Theatre CompanyÂ
DATE & TIME
Thursday 21 November
6pm – 7pm AEDT
LOCATION
Wharf 2 Theatre, Sydney Theatre Company, The Wharf, 15 Hickson Rd, Dawes Point
The decisions we make when we’re young can have a profound impact on the course of our life or the lives of others.
But how do you navigate a big, complex world when you are yet to experience much of it? How can you juggle the values of your family with those of your friends? What do you owe to the past and the current world, and how do you shape your future from that?
Inspired by the story and themes of Dear Evan Hansen, this very special session of The Ethics of Being Young is not for the young alone, but for all of us finding our way through the mess and morality of friendship, grief, mental health and the question ‘who AM I?’.
Two incredible young thinkers Masego Pitso (Is God Is, Picnic at Hanging Rock 2025) and Phaedra Carantinos will join host philosopher Dr Tim Dean, live and unfiltered, to unravel the real experiences, responsibilities and challenges of being young.
Expect things to get spicy as they reflect on the uncomfortable tensions inherit in today’s complex world: social media saturation, cancel culture, self-censorship, identity politics, maintaining hope while facing an uncertain future and more
This special presentation offers fans a chance to experience The Ethics of... in the fresh, inspiring surrounds of Sydney Theatre Company, to coincide with their season of Broadway smash hit Dear Evan Hansen.
