This is the third in our series of four walks exploring the varied eucalypt habitats of the Birrarung - from the grassy dry forests of Warrandyte to the floodplain woodlands of Spadonis Reserve, and finally we will trace the altitudinal gradient of the Birrarung as she reaches the Yarra Ranges National Park near Warburton.

Spadonis is a landscape in active renewal and it is also one of the most botanically remarkable spots along the river, home to the Buxton Gum - a eucalypt found naturally in only one other place on Earth.

Wander the billabongs with Vicky Shukuroglou, who will reveal the extraordinary eucalypts of this floodplain landscape and their role in a river system being carefully stitched back together. Conclude with morning tea, good conversation, and the company of some very special trees.

Vicky is an artist and researcher dedicated to deepening our understanding and care for the natural world, who co-authored Loving Country: A Guide to Sacred Australia with Bruce Pascoe in consultation with diverse Indigenous communities.
