Crossing Strings - Europe's No.1 Crossover Guitar Duo
Event description
Crossing Strings is an Austrian crossover guitar duo, consisting of classical guitarist Carina Maria Linder and fingerstyle guitarist and founder of the Vienna Fingerstyle Festival**,** Markus Schlesinger. With their debut album "Intersections", the duo has propelled itself to the top of the European fingerpicking scene (Concerto 6/22) and tours with concerts as well as guitar workshops through Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Belgium, Hungary**,** and Australia. The guitar duo presents original compositions, self-arranged classical, jazzy**,** and pop evergreen pieces, and two voices that uniquely complement each other in their timbres.
Following an extensive tour of Australia in 2024, their new programme "Interwoven" is now emerging — the duo's current project, which is evolving into a new album. "Interwoven" because here, the intertwined stories and experiences of the two guitarists, Carina Maria Linder and Markus Schlesinger, are at the forefront.
Whilst in their debut work they still met at their stylistic and musical crossroads, their music can now be described as woven... woven into a completely new style that blurs the boundaries of classical, jazz**,** and world music, creating its own musical universe. During their first tour of Australia, the musicians were inspired by the idea that only through the interconnectedness and exchange of individual identities could they become a fruitful and constructive whole, and they decided to dedicate an entire album to this concept. Along the way, Linder and Schlesinger present both new and old songs — so, from Intersections to Interwoven!
