Eurythmy: Introduction and Guided Practice with Adam Chan
Event description
Eurythmy is a movement art that expresses speech and music through the body. In this workshop we will explore what it is to be a true human being through movement. Learning to live from our centre, Eurythmy offers us many insights and practical exercises to connect to our heart out feeling and how to integrate this into our daily lives.
In Steiner Education, eurythmy supports child development and meets children in gentle, therapeutic ways as well as being a form of creative expression. As adults we can use eurythmy for our own therapeutic benefits, relaxation, stress relief and as a form of expressive art.
In this practical workshop you will experience eurythmy and what it offers to adults and children (NOTE: this workshop is adults only). We will explore Eurythmy’s role in Steiner Education, emphasising both its individuality and relevance in today's world. We will also learn about the foundations of Steiner education - why it is so important to recognize, acknowledge and celebrate the individuality of every child, and how this system allows and supports each child to grow into their full potential, find their task in life and meet the world out of their own centre.
We will work with the following themes through movement and archetypal gestures:
3 fold aspect of the human being
The importance of rhythm
Developing clear thinking
The mutual importance of individual and social development
The developing child and age appropriate education
Joy and enthusiasm
