=-=-=-=-=-=-The Invisible Compass: Mapping Magnetic Fields Between the Galaxies

The Universe is filled with magnetic fields stretching across millions of light-years, but no telescope can photograph them directly.

Sophie Kim, a PhD candidate at ANU’s Mount Stromlo Observatory, uses radio telescopes to detect the subtle changes these invisible fields leave in radio waves travelling to us from distant galaxies, turning those clues into a map.

Join her for a journey through the invisible Universe, from the hot gas filling galaxy clusters to the giant radio telescopes exploring the southern sky.
