Event description

You’re finishing uni… but now what?

If you're in your final year or have recently graduated and feel unsure about how to position yourself in the job market, this session is for you. We'll explore how early-career professionals can build their first CV, articulate their value, and showcase more than just academic credentials.

This event is part of Beyond the Resume — a research-led initiative by Teamed aimed at uncovering how people enter (or re-enter) the workforce and how they document their growth along the way. Your insights will help shape better tools for real-world career support.

🔍 Building your first professional narrative

In this session, we’ll explore:

  • What to include in your CV when you feel like you have “no experience”

  • How to turn class projects, volunteering, casual jobs or side hustles into meaningful achievements

  • Tools to start tracking your growth and experience (Notion, Google Docs, trackers, etc.)

  • What employers are actually looking for beyond your degree

🎤 Guest Speaker: Yuly Rios

Yuly Rios is a Brisbane-based English communication and job-search mentor with 14 years of experience across Australian workplaces — from corporate to hospitality to education.

For seven of those years, Yuly balanced dual roles: teaching English as a second language and coordinating programs, mentoring staff, and leading diverse teams.

Today, she supports students, newcomers, and young professionals by helping them:

  • Shape clear, confident messages to pitch themselves and their skills

  • Refine pronunciation and communication for impact

  • Build job-search strategies that reflect both local expectations and personal strengths
