Description

Disability Sports Australia, presented by Bupa through its Healthy Cities initiative, is bringing Every Body Moves to Parkville.

Every Body Moves is a free community event series that brings people with and without disability together to connect, belong and get active.

Developed by Disability Sports Australia and presented by Bupa through its Healthy Cities initiative, Every Body Moves reflects a shared commitment to reducing barriers to participation, expanding access to sport and creating healthier, more connected communities through sport.

Working alongside local sporting organisations and community partners, Every Body Moves helps people discover sports and activities they enjoy, build confidence, make new connections and explore opportunities to stay active close to home.

Whether you're attending with family, friends, siblings or your support network, Every Body Moves offers something for people of all ages, abilities and experience levels.

Activities include opportunities for people with and without disability to participate together, helping everyone discover the benefits of sport, physical activity and community connection.

This event is free to attend; however, registrations are essential. Places are limited, so register today to secure your place.

Venue and Event Details

Location


The event will be held at State Sport Centres – Parkville (State Netball & Hockey Centre), 10 Brens Drive, Parkville VIC 3052.

Activities will take place within the indoor stadium and can be accessed via the main entrance. Doors open at 9:50am, with the event running until 1:00pm.

Facilities


State Sport Centres – Parkville offers step-free access throughout the venue, accessible toilets and change rooms, a Changing Places facility, accessible viewing areas, ramps, braille signage for amenities, public address systems with large visual displays, and staff trained to assist visitors with accessibility needs.

Parking


On-site parking is available, with more than 300 paved parking spaces and additional overflow parking. Accessible parking spaces are located close to the main entrance. Parking is generally free, however fees may apply during major events. The venue is also easily accessible by Route 58 tram (Stop 25) and the Upfield train line (Royal Park Station).

    Acknowledgement of Country & Event Introduction

    Welcome and acknowledgement, including an introduction to the sports, Paralympians and classifiers you’ll meet on the day.

  • 10:10 am - 1:00 pm

    Sport activities begin.

    Try a range of activities, connect with local clubs and coaches, explore exhibition events and activity zones, and discover new ways to get moving in your community.

  • Who can attend?

    Everyone is welcome. Every Body Moves is designed for people with and without disability of all ages and abilities.

    Whether you're coming on your own, with family, friends, siblings or your support network, we'd love to see you there.

  • Do I need to register if I don't have disability?

    Yes.

    Everyone attending the event should register in advance, regardless of whether or not they have disability.

    This helps us plan activities and create the best possible experience for everyone.

  • Can I attend with my family, siblings or friends?

    Absolutely. Every Body Moves is designed to be enjoyed together. Family members, siblings, friends, carers and support workers are all welcome to attend and participate.

    There will also be exhibition sports and demonstrations throughout the day, making it a great experience whether you're taking part, supporting someone or simply exploring what's on offer.

  • Will there be opportunities to connect with local sports and community organisations?

    Yes. A range of local sporting organisations and community organisations will be attending Every Body Moves to showcase opportunities available in your area.

    You'll have the chance to meet representatives, ask questions and learn more about activities and programs available beyond the event.

  • I'm interested in competitive sport or Para sport pathways. Can someone help?

    Yes.

    Organisations attending the event will vary by location, but many will be able to provide information about participation opportunities, development pathways and competitive sport.

    Disability Sports Australia staff will also be available to help connect you with the organisations and opportunities that best match your interests.

  • Will I be able to stay connected with organisations after the event?

    As you move around the event, each sport station will have a sign-up sheet. If you’re interested in a sport, simply write your first and last name on the sheet.

    After the event, Disability Sports Australia will share relevant sport contact details with you.

    Only the sports you’ve signed up for will receive your details, so you’ll only be contacted by the sports you’ve expressed interest in on the day.

  • What should I bring on the day?

    If you're planning to participate in activities, please wear comfortable clothing suitable for sport and bring a clearly labelled water bottle.

    Equipment for activities will be provided. If you use your own mobility or assistive equipment to participate in sport, you're encouraged to bring it along.

  • What do I do when I arrive?

    Once you arrive, head to the registration desk to check in. Our team will welcome you, answer any questions and help you get started exploring the activities, organisations and experiences on offer.

    You'll also receive a complimentary showbag to take with you throughout the day, making it easy to collect information, resources and giveaways from the sporting organisations and community partners you visit.

  • Will food and drinks be available?

    Food and drinks will not be provided unless otherwise stated for your event. Please bring your own snacks if required, along with a clearly labelled water bottle.

  • Do I need to have played sport before?

    Not at all. Every Body Moves is designed for everyone, whether you're trying a sport for the first time, returning after some time away or simply looking for a fun day out. Activities are designed to be welcoming and enjoyable for all experience levels.

  • Will the event be accessible?

    Yes. Disability Sports Australia is committed to creating a welcoming and accessible experience for everyone. If you have any accessibility requirements or questions before the event, please contact us and we'll do our best to support your participation.

  • Is there a cost to attend?

    No. Every Body Moves is free to attend; however, registrations are essential.
